Gérard Lévy Collection. Rêveries Fin-de-Siècle

Ahead of its February 11th auction in Paris, Artcurial highlights the Symbolist movement in Brussels from January 24th to 28th, 2025, through an important private collection. This ensemble of works reflects an often-overlooked aspect of Gérard Lévy’s personality, showcasing his visionary passion for Symbolism and Art Nouveau at a time when these movements were largely forgotten. In the 1960s, this influential art dealer played a pioneering role in their rediscovery, lending works to major exhibitions. Unlike other dealers, Gérard Lévy did not sell these pieces, but acquired them for his own enjoyment, with a keen and personal taste. His eclectic collection includes Symbolist works by iconic figures such as a pastel by Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer titled La Bourrasque (estimated at €60,000 – 80,000), as well as L’Iris, a watercolor by Alphonse Mucha (estimated at €40,000 – 60,000), and also features rarer artists, offering a comprehensive panorama of this fascinating period.
