Artcurial celebrates a century of design
//= $catTxt; ?>On May 27 and 28, Artcurial will celebrate design excellence with two exceptional auctions, marking the 100th anniversary of the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. This milestone is an opportunity to honor the craftsmanship and creativity that have shaped the history of design.
The first auction will be dedicated to Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Design, featuring the estate of Simone Prouvé—offering an intimate dive into the history of the Prouvé family. Through emblematic pieces by Simone, Jean, and Victor Prouvé, this collection highlights the legacy and influence of three generations of visionary artists.
The second auction will showcase 100 masterpieces of Italian design, illustrating the creativity and expertise of the greatest designers. Highlights include a Max Ingrand pendant light, reference 2077 (est. € 25,000–€ 35,000), where glass becomes a true artistic medium. Also featured: a significant chiffonnier by Fontana Arte (est. € 30,000–€ 50,000) and an AGATA plate designed by Gio Ponti for Ginori (est. € 8,000–€ 12,000), originally presented at the 1925 World’s Fair.
