Smithsonian Journey into deep space takes audiences in Belgium on a journey from Brussels, at Tour & Taxis, to the farthest reaches of the universe. The immersive experience was developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), a research centre founded in 1890. Drawing on decades of astronomical research, it explores stars, galaxies, exoplanets and black holes. Throughout the experience, visitors will discover observations from some of the world’s most advanced space telescopes, including Hubble and James Webb, as well as the Chandra X-ray Observatory. These data and scientific discoveries offer a glimpse into the life cycle of stars, the formation of galaxies, worlds beyond our solar system and some of the most extreme phenomena in the cosmos.
