Juliette Vanwaterloo | Burn it all down

Juliette Vanwaterloo (FR, 1998) is a feminist and decolonial activist who creates embroidery, lace, tapestries and textile installations denouncing police violence. Against the dominant discourse of the police, the judiciary, politicians and certain media, she contrasts cop-watching images broadcast on social networks. Her artistic action involves the invention of counter-narratives constructed with soft, delicate, colorful materials, imbued with a domestic history long attributed to women. Juliette Vanwaterloo’s exhibition Tout cramer is part of the anniversary edition of the Prix Médiatine, created in 1983 by the Wolubilis Cultural Center in Brussels.
