For the Selected 20/21 auction, Artcurial presents an exceptional work by Tom Wesselmann: Monica lying down, one arm up (gray). This piece comes from the prestigious Belgian collection of Serge De Bloe, based in Brussels.

Originally drawn in 1986, it was produced and painted in 1989, and signed by the artist in 1990. It belongs to the Série noire, frottée et grise, a trio of works that share the same composition but differ in finish. One is painted entirely in black, another has partially rubbed paint revealing tonal variations, and the third, offered in this sale, is rendered in shades of grey.

Made of enamel on laser-cut steel and measuring 64 x 110.5 cm, the piece captures the visual impact and sensuality that define Wesselmann’s work. It is estimated between €100,000 and €200,000.
