//= $catTxt; ?>Beneath the former Sauvenière Baths and Thermal Baths – today known as La Cité Miroir – lies an air-raid shelter listed as a protected monument, the only one to benefit from such status. This unusual site, made up of six interconnected circular alcoves, could accommodate up to 400 people during the Second World War. After more than a year of works, it will open to the public in June 2026. A spectacular heritage restoration! An immersive journey will plunge visitors into the daily lives of the people of Liège who took refuge beneath the bombs. More than a simple historical record, the shelter becomes a space for reflection: how can civilians be protected in times of war? What connections can be drawn between then and now? Through realistic scenography and cutting-edge technologies, the experience will blend local memory with a critical perspective on armed conflicts around the world and the violence of war. A place of remembrance hidden within the depths of a space dedicated to citizenship, the shelter invites reflection on the society of tomorrow through a critical reading of both history and current events.
