La Boverie celebrates 10 years!*

On the occasion of its tenth anniversary (2016–2026), La Boverie will present a unique anniversary exhibition from May 29 to August 23, 2026, inviting the public to explore the inner workings of a major museum through the rich collection of the City of Liège, renowned for the exceptional quality of its works. More than 250 pieces will be brought together, including iconic masterpieces as well as works rarely—or even never—displayed. Visitors will have the chance to (re)discover major highlights from the collection, alongside treasures seldom shown to the public, featuring works by Kees Van Dongen, James Ensor, Pablo Picasso, René Magritte, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, Eugène Boudin, Emile Claus, and many others. Spread across the entire ground floor, the exhibition will clearly and dynamically reveal the museum’s multiple missions: conservation, restoration, scientific analysis, exhibition design, collection management, and international loans. The works will engage in dialogue with one another, vividly illustrating the often-overlooked role of a museum institution. More than a retrospective, this celebration is conceived as an open, festive event accessible to all: meetings, activities, events, and surprises will punctuate the entire season, inviting everyone to (re)discover La Boverie and its remarkable heritage.
