Pierre Jourdan-Barry Collection, A passion for miniatures
//= $catTxt; ?>On Wednesday, November 27, Artcurial will auction a collection of miniature portraits from the Pierre Jourdan-Barry collection. This ensemble, assembled towards the end of the collector’s life, includes some of the most remarkable examples of the art of miniatures. A true connoisseur, Pierre Jourdan-Barry enjoyed delving into the intricate details of this demanding art form and exploring the technical mastery of the artists who worked on enamel, ivory, and vellum. A miniature portrait of Louise d’Orléans by Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767–1855), painted in 1831 and estimated at € 10 000 – € 15 000, immortalizes Belgium’s first queen during her reign from 1812 to 1850.
