Alain Séchas' (FR, 1955) work is dominated by drawing, a reference to comics and caricature, and extends to paintings and sculptures, as well as audiovisual installations, posters and Instagram posts. A few incisive strokes are all it takes for him to represent reality, in the form of anthropomorphic cats or abstract compositions, in the immediacy of their movements. Far from the apparent naivety he exudes, his work questions the foundations of art as well as those of humanity, whose absurdity is approached with (sometimes black) humor.
