Miguel Díaz Vizoso. De La Louvière à Peyo

A witness to the rich artistic and cultural history of the city of La Louvière, the Mill showcases its collections and is part of a history that began more than a century ago. It also serves as a platform to highlight emerging talents and artists who actively contribute to the city’s prominence.

This is the case with this exhibition, dedicated to the fascinating work of Louviérois artist Miguel Díaz Vizoso, known to the public as a comic book artist, particularly for his work on the Smurfs albums for Studio Peyo.

Originally from a neighborhood near the L’Appel sculpture in La Croyère, Miguel Díaz Vizoso holds a deep admiration for the work of Idel Ianchelevici, an artist whom he pays tribute to through unpublished drawings. Colleagues and friends, artists of iconic heroes (such as Marsupilami, l’élève Ducobu, l’agent 212, etc.), have also been invited by Miguel Díaz Vizoso to create works inspired by L’Appel, a powerful symbol of La Louvière and the starting point of the city’s connection with Idel Ianchelevici. This exhibition also highlights the comic book art form, now a major art genre fully integrated into the museum world.
