Miguel Díaz Vizoso. De La Louvière à Peyo

The exhibition is dedicated to the fascinating work of Miguel Díaz Vizoso, a Louviérois born and raised, who is widely known to the public as the illustrator of, among others, the Smurfs albums for Studio Peyo. Miguel Díaz Vizoso grew up near the sculpture L’Appel in La Croyère and holds a deep admiration for the work of Idel Ianchelevici. Today, he pays tribute to this artist with previously unpublished drawings. He has also invited fellow artists and friends — known for drawing iconic comic book characters such as Marsupilami, L’élève Ducobu, L’agent 212, and Les Psy — to create works inspired by L’Appel, a powerful symbol of La Louvière and the starting point of the story between the city and Idel Ianchelevici. The exhibition also highlights the importance of comics as an art form, one that is now fully integrated into the museum world.
