From 17 September 2026, a remarkable exhibition dedicated to M.C. Escher, a key figure in twentieth-century art, will be presented in Brussels. Titled M.C. Escher – Beyond Infinity, the exhibition is organised by Tempora in collaboration with the M.C. Escher Foundation, M.C. Escher Heritage, and Maurits, who are providing the works on loan in their entirety. More than 150 works open a window onto the fascinating and complex universe of the world-renowned Dutch artist. The exhibition traces M.C. Escher’s entire career, from his early Italian landscapes to his most iconic compositions, in which metamorphosis, tessellations, and impossible architectures take centre stage. It reveals the evolution of an oeuvre that is at once rigorous, playful, and deeply conceptual. This presentation stands apart from previous international exhibitions through its in-depth approach and strong narrative continuity. It explores the many facets of Escher’s work, balancing aesthetic exploration and intellectual inquiry, and offers a renewed perspective on its richness.
