Son travail est nourri d&rsquo;une incessante recherche d&rsquo;imprim\u00e9s de toutes sortes, qui forment aujourd&rsquo;hui une impressionnante collection d&rsquo;un art qu&rsquo;on dit \u00ab\u00a0modeste\u00a0\u00bb, depuis les cahiers d&rsquo;enfants jusqu&rsquo;aux artefacts de la culture populaire. Ici, il laisse libre \u00e0 cours \u00e0 son obsession pour un type tout particulier d&rsquo;images : unes\u00e9rie de lithographies repr\u00e9sentant diff\u00e9rentes figures humaines grandeur nature, r\u00e9alis\u00e9es par l&rsquo;imprimerie Wentzel \u00e0 Wissembourg entre la fin du 19e et le d\u00e9but du 20e si\u00e8cle. Arch\u00e9types singuliers, repr\u00e9sentant\u00b7e\u00b7sd&rsquo;un groupe social ou d&rsquo;une fonction, elles parviennent jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 nous aujourd&rsquo;hui dans toute leur d\u00e9su\u00e9tude. \u00c0 travers les couleurs \u00e9clatantes et l&rsquo;absurdit\u00e9 des postures, r\u00e9sonne leur humanit\u00e9. Cette humanit\u00e9 pr\u00e9caire, on la retrouve dans les marionnettes li\u00e9geoises que Benjamin Monti met en dialogue avec ces images. Rustres, elles touchent par leur humilit\u00e9, leur simplicit\u00e9 \u00e9conome.
