Les Abattoirs de Bomel - Cultural centre of Namur

The Cultural Center of Namur, founded in 2005, has been housed in the former slaughterhouse of Namur since its renovation in 2014. This remarkable former industrial building has been completely renovated by Belgian architectural firm Emmanuel Bouffioux. Covering 3,000 m2 and located less than five minutes from Namur's train station, these new spaces give the Center's actions an even greater scope. Soon the symbiosis between the container (the old slaughterhouse) and the content (the Cultural Center) was such that they naturally merged into a stronger common identity, the Abattoirs de Bomel. At the heart of the activity centers of the Abattoirs de Bomel, an abundant exhibition space. Since 2014, the Abattoirs de Bomel have offered two annual exhibitions of contemporary art, mostly collective and thematic. While the summer exhibition highlights local talent, the winter exhibition focuses on Belgian and international artists. Initially focused on photography, its scope has expanded in recent years to other areas of contemporary art.
