From March 19 until June 21, 2020, the Horta museum jumps within the heart of the creation of artists and architects of the end of the XIXth century. The museum will show more than 80 drawings (of which 61 never shown before): works by William Morris, Henry van de Velde, Josef Hoffmann, Charles R. Mackintosh... These are projects for tissues and wallpaper that form a large fresco – almost an herbarium – of motifs and ornaments. All the steps in the process are illustrated: from the first sketches until the final work.
For this occasion, the Horta Museum will open Victor Horta’s draftsmen room permanently. 60 ironworks and moulds will be presented in order to reach a better understanding of Horta’s treatment of ornament and his way of working. A room that has been patiently restored and adjusted to delve into the heart of the studio of the Art nouveau master!
