On 10th October, Artcurial will present the collection of Marseille lawyer and writer, Paul Lombard at auction. The man was council a number of celebrities, including Gaston Deferre or Jean-Luc Lagardère. Yet as much as he was an acclaimed lawyer, he was also a friend of the arts. Throughout his life, the collector, and intimate friend of César, gathered together artwork ranging from 1870 to 2000. As a lawyer, he invested in the estates of the greatest artists of the twentieth century. These professional opportunities contributed to fuel his artistic passion. Pieces by Paul Sérusier, Maurice Denis, Marc Chagall, Antoni Tapiès, Robert Combas and of course César, can all be found amongst his treasures.
During the auction, more than 200 20th century paintings and sculptures will be dispersed. The sales total is estimated at €3M. François Tajan, Artcurial Deputy Chairman and personal friend of Paul Lombard will hold the gavel.
