Nightclubs and discos are the epitome of contemporary culture. They merge architecture and interior design with sound, light, fashion, furnishing, graphics and visual effects to create a modern Gesamtkunstwerk. As place of cultural experimentation for subcultures and avant-garde, they question the established codes of social life and offer individual and collective freedom by playing with different identities and realities.
If the 20th century was the age of pop culture, the nightclub was probably its most powerful design expression. Night Fever is the first exhibition to examine the design history of the nightclub. It will feature exhibits from design, art, architecture, music and media including films and original photographs, flyers, posters, records covers, models, furniture, magazines as well as 1:1 installations that will immerse the visitors in a journey of creative experimentation.
