From 3 april onwards, the Château de Chimay will start its touristic season since the launch of its digital circuit in 2013. After
Marie-Jo Lafontaine, Koen Vanmechelen, Hans Op de Beeck and Jean-Luc Moerman, Stijn Cole will present his work in the Maison des Artistes and the Château de Chimay. Stijn Cole is born in Ghent in 1978 and lives and works in Chimay. Cole uses a wide variety of techniques but what links his work is the light: in his videos, scale models, sculptures, paintings, drawings and installations, he plays with the changing effect of light. He often makes site-specific work and likes to reveal the challenges of the buildings, preferably buildings with a heavy history.
Visitors can visit the Château with an Ipad and discover its history through a projection of a 3D film. An innovation that clearly convinces the visitors as the Castle attracts an international public that grows every year (14.283 visitors in 2015).
The Château de Chimay’s theatre will also reveal its new music and theatre programme under direction of Anne Pingen. The visit to the castle also offers the occasion to discover - or rediscover - the castle’s gastronomic restaurant, LO’riginale, or to organise a banquet or reception in the Relais des Princes (according to a table d'hôtes formula for lunch, tea time or dinners in group). In both cases, you can enjoy the cooking skills of chef Loïc Pierard, a modern cuisine based on local products that are hard to resist.
The Château de Chimay offers the possibility for children to follow workshops in which they can discover the magical world of fairy tales, but also enjoy cooking, crafts and walks, or invite their friends for a piece of pie during birthday parties in the castle. Nanny Fanny is in charge of everything.
